Yesterday I received an e-mail from Councillor Mike Ward regarding a proposed new cycle pathway through Sheldon Country Park. I know this will be music to the ears of Mike Smith from Hatchford Brook WatersideCare Group, he has been pressurizing Birmingham City Council for a cycle path for some time. (Lol Thurstan. Editor & Publisher of B26)

Birmingham City Council is proposing to install a shared cycleway through Sheldon Country Park along the Hatchford Brook. The route will go from the existing airport viewing path south along the Hatchford Brook towards Mapledene Primary School, to the Coventry Road, finishing at the boundary with Solihull Council. The pathway will be surfaced in bitmac (tarmac) with a bounded gravel surface dressing on top. A draft plan on the scheme is attached.

Works are hoped to commence on site in Summer 2017 with completion by September 2017, subject to approvals.
