Each year, Birmingham City Council celebrates its tenants and leaseholders who help keep estate neighbourhoods around the city looking good through their gardening efforts by hosting the Birmingham in Bloom competition.
The 2015 comp is now open for entries in seven categories – both for individuals and community groups – with some great prizes on offer for winners at both district and citywide level.
The categories are:
- Best front garden
- Best back garden
- Best communal garden
- Best balcony, baskets or pots
- Best community vegetable patch
- Best individual vegetable patch
- Best individual vegetable containers
Support Birmingham’s estates by spreading the word.
Winners from around the city’s ten districts will be invited to an awards ceremony at the Council House, Victoria Square in November where the overall citywide winners are announced. Their creations are traditionally featured in the council’s newspaper, Forward and in the local media too.
