Thriving Neighbourhood

Congratulations to all at Pemberley Road Sheltered Housing Scheme on winning the title of Thriving Neighbourhood. Resident Bob Harris collected the Thriving Neighbourhood Award on behalf of Pemberley Road at the RHS’s Award ceremony on 19 September 2013 at the Tower Ball room Edgbaston. Community Groups from all over the Heart of England enter the annual competition and the judges look for the quality of the gardens , community involvement and sustainabilty. 

Village in Bloom – Silver Award!

Acocks Green Neighbourhood Forum

It was announced at the Heart of England Village in Bloom on Thursday 12th September that Acocks Green Village had won a Silver Award for its many improvements.

The hard work of our Village in Bloom team really paid off this year. Acocks Green Village in Bloom Co-ordinator Fran and two other volunteers attended the award ceremony in Tamworth.  Fran, was also surprised and delighted that the judges decided to give her a Merit Award. The comments from the judges were most encouraging :

‘What a difference a year makes.’

They were of course impressed with the new street furniture, some of it new and some of it painted, which the Highways Division of the Council had installed ready for the day of judging. The judges also commented on our heritage buildings and the biodiversity of  Westley ValeMillennium Green.  They were impressed with the street cleaning and of course
