Kents Moat

Kents Moat

I wonder how many people know that just off the Sheldon Heath Road in Stechford and Yardley North Ward  there are the remains of a large rectangular medieval moat . The site which now has a number of low rise Council Flats on it called Fleetwood Grove is a Scheduled Ancient Monument protected by law. Kents Moat is named after John and Marion Kemp, who lived in the house during the early 15th century. The house was a sub-manor house of Sheldon Hall at Tile Cross and was first occupied in the 12th century
